How PocketSe Uses Cookies and Similar Technologies
Effective Date: 22 May 2025
Governing Law: Information Technology Act, 2000 (India) · DPDP Act, 2023
Platform Operator: PocketSe LLP
Contact: legal@pocketse.in
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website or use an application. They help the platform remember information about your session — like whether you’re logged in — so you don’t have to start from scratch every time.
We also use similar technologies: local storage (data stored in your browser), session tokens (temporary identifiers that expire when you close the app), and analytics SDKs (lightweight code that helps us understand how the platform is being used).
This policy explains what we use, why, and what you can do about it.
2. The Cookies We Use
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These are required for the platform to function. Without them, you cannot log in, access your account, or use core features. They cannot be turned off.
• Session cookies — keep you logged in during a session
• Authentication tokens — verify your identity securely
• Security cookies — protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) and other attacks
• Load balancing cookies — route your requests to the right server
2.2 Functional Cookies
These remember your preferences so the platform behaves the way you expect.
• Language and display preferences
• Notification settings
• Last-visited section or task state
You can disable functional cookies, but the platform may not remember your preferences between sessions.
2.3 Analytical Cookies
These help us understand how users move through the platform so we can fix problems and improve the experience. We use anonymised and aggregated data only — no individual user is identified in our analytics dashboards.
• Session duration and drop-off points
• Feature usage frequency
• Error and crash reports
Analytics data is not shared with third-party advertising networks. It is used only for internal product development.
2.4 Behavioural Model Signals (Not Cookies)
PocketSe’s Behavioural Reasoning Model operates on data collected within the platform — task completions, decision sequences, habit patterns. This is not cookie-based tracking. It is first-party behavioural data collected with your consent as described in our Privacy Policy. It does not leave the platform and is not shared with third-party networks.
3. What We Do Not Use
PocketSe does not use:
• Third-party advertising cookies or trackers
• Cross-site tracking pixels
• Fingerprinting technologies
• Behavioural profiling for commercial advertising
Because our users include minors, we hold a stricter standard than most consumer applications. No third-party ad network has access to PocketSe user data.
4. Cookie Duration
Cookies set by PocketSe fall into two duration categories:
• Session cookies — deleted automatically when you close the app or browser tab
• Persistent cookies — remain on your device for a set period (typically 30 to 365 days, depending on the function) or until you delete them manually
Persistent cookies are reviewed and pruned regularly. We do not set persistent cookies for longer than operationally necessary.
5. Your Choices
5.1 Browser and Device Settings
Most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies through their settings. You can also set your browser to block cookies entirely. Be aware that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in or using the platform.
5.2 In-App Controls
Where the platform includes a cookie preference panel, you can adjust functional and analytical cookie settings there. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be turned off through this panel.
5.3 Withdrawing Consent
If you previously consented to analytical or functional cookies and wish to withdraw that consent, you can do so by adjusting your settings in-app or by contacting us at legal@pocketse.in. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of cookie use prior to the withdrawal.
6. Third-Party Services
PocketSe uses a small number of third-party services that may set their own cookies. These are limited to:
• Cloud infrastructure providers (for hosting)
• Crash reporting tools (for identifying and fixing bugs)
These services are bound by data processing agreements and are not permitted to use cookies for their own advertising or profiling purposes. We do not integrate social media pixels, advertising SDKs, or retargeting tools.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add new features or change the tools we use. We will notify you via in-app notification or email when material changes occur. The updated policy will take effect 7 days after notification.
